BiS Woman Of The Month

Each month at Beauty In Strength we highlight one of our valuable members that has put extraordinary effort into her fitness. BiS is about recognising the pure Beauty we have in every aspect of our lives. It’s not just about how we turn up everyday to training it’s how we ‘show up’ to life on a day to day basis.

Please introduce yourself and tell me a little about yourself and your work?

Hi, my name is Michelle and I have two adult children which have now left home. I am very social so will always be out and about. I love to travel the world experiencing other cultures which are quite different to ours. We have our own Consulting Engineering business in which I am the accounts/office manager and so I have worked together with my husband for over 20 years.

What does Beauty In Strength mean to you?

I think Beauty in Strength is an inspiration for woman. It enables myself to look at other woman’s journeys keeping me on track to succeed at my own goals that I want to achieve. To know that we are all different and how we look is all so individual.

What were your initial goals before starting the BIS program?

I really wanted to become motivated again, so I started PTing with Darcia weekly and I soon found myself getting excited about going to the gym again. As I am now of mature age I still wanted to look toned and fit.

How do you think your sessions have helped you?

Working with Darcia in my PT sessions every week and taking part in the BiS program definitely kept me focused and wanting to keep challenging myself.  I saw a change in my strength working with weights and was proud of my achievements.

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

Definitely for me is to stay fit, strong and healthy physically as well as mentally.  I think it shows when you are happy within yourself. Mentally I think it makes you a stronger person as you try to push boundaries challenging yourself to improve constantly. I do some very challenging adventures like trekking to Base Camp so exercising to keep fit is extremely important.

Has the BiS philosophy helped you in your everyday life? How? What would you say to someone who’s looking at getting started?

Get in and do it make sure you really try to achieve your goals by not making excuses. Darcia is an inspiration and will definitely support you every step of the way with her enthusiasm and knowledge.

Share your success. Is there something happening in your life right now that you are proud of? Our BiS community would love to celebrate with you

I am training at the moment to climb the second highest mountain Aconcagua in the Andes this coming January.  So I hope to make it to the summit at 7000metres.
